Hi everyone!
I am a medical doctor by training, scientist by passion!
Currently, I am working in a Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory at Cambridge University Hospital. I utilise genetics to help diagnose a variety of haematological cancers, so-called liquid cancers – tumours that originate in the blood.
In our laboratory we use genetic techniques to identify various markers in the blood that would allow us to understand what type of cancer the patient has, and what the best treatment options would be.

I work in a Genetics clinical laboratory. We use samples from blood and bone marrow to diagnose a variety of cancers that originate from blood.
In some unique cases, it is difficult to understand patient’s condition when traditional methods fail to identify abnormality. So, then we apply the newest technology, called Next Generation Sequencing, to look at the whole genome of patient’s tumour to find the answers. -
My Typical Day:
I handle laboratory tubes, pipette different reagents and mix with patient’s DNA or RNA material to then produce millions of copies that could be detected and analysed for presence of abnormality.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use the money to publish my recent manuscript!
