At work my favourite place to be is a microscope room, I really like imaging experiments and often by looking at my samples the result of an experiment instant. Usually, the stainings also look very pretty – bright and colourful.
Outside work my favourite place is an old growth lush thick forrest.

At work I like to be in the tissue culture room. I do a lot of work with cells and I like to spend my time in the TC room listening to music or an audio book whilst I prepare my cells and samples.

Outside of work I like to be in new places. Travelling is my favourite thing to do.

I like being in a meeting with the other scientists in my group. They’re all very clever, have lots of different opinions and make me think in different ways. It’s a real pleasure to be with them!

Outside of work, I love to be in the sea!

At work I live being in the microscope, the pictures we get are really pretty and I like the excitement of seeing whether something has worked, although it is frustrating when it doesn’t work.
In normal life I love spending time with my two little boys outside, toddlers and young children have such a fascinating view of the world, they get fixated on really strange things like a snail or a stick!

My favourite place to be is up the hills in Scotland or at home on my couch with good TV and a nice drink.

During the working day, like others I also enjoy meetings, especially my lab group meetings where we all share what we’ve been up to and any interesting results!

At work, I love being at the microscope looking at fluorescent immune cells as they glow and move. Like some of the others, I enjoy discussions with my colleagues and other really clever scientists.

Outside work, my favourite place to be is any place where I can read a book in peace with a cup of coffee for company 🙂

Either on the top of a mountain or next to a fast stream.

Oooof I think my favourite place in the lab has to the cell culture room! This is the room where we do experiments on tiny cells, such as heart cells or liver cells, which grow in plastic flasks or plates (I wish I could attach photos on here so I could show you!)

Before we do any experiments on cells, we need to give them fresh media (which is like food for cells, it contains everything they need to grow healthily) and we leave them to grow in an incubator (which is basically a huge oven for cells). When we think they have grown enough (by checking under the microscope), then we can start experiments!

Outside of the lab, I like exploring new places in London (I just moved here) or go out anywhere really with family and friends.

I love being by the sea or up a mountain (climbing!), or with my hands in the soil gardening 🙂
